The Bees start on the road to Wembley with the visit of Braintree in the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. Manager John Still has described his approach to the worlds most famous cup competition as ‘old school’ so Barnet are likely to name a full strength line-up for the tie. Braintree almost pulled off a shock victory at high flying Salford last week so will pose a greater threat than their league position suggests.
The Iron are currently under the control of former Bees midfielder Hakin Hayrretin who has played for and worked with John Still most recently at Luton. They also have another Barnet connection in the shape of striker Justin Amaluzor. The two teams drew 1-1 at The Hive earlier in the season with Shaq Coulthirst equalising for Barnet after a Jack Taylor own goal had put the visitors in front. The Bees haven’t been beaten in the 4th Qualifying Round since 2002 their last two appearances at this stage of the competition being against Braintree’s Essex rivals Concord Rangers and Chelmsford.
Braintree Facts: The first crocodile to be brought to the UK was kept in Braintree in 1701, while singer Olly Murs went to school there along with dancer Louis Spence.
