BARNET 2 Dover 0

Goals from JackTaylor and the returning Mauro Vilhete gave the Bees their first home league win since October. Manager John Still’s plans were disrupted shortly before kick off when Craig Robson sustained an injury in the pre match warm up resulting in Mauro Vilhete getting an unexpected call to the bench. After a largely forgettable opening 45 minutes Barnet got into their stride after the break. Ephron Mason-Clark failed to make most of a one on one with visiting keeper Mitch Walker before a long ball from skipper Callum Reynolds caught the Dover defence out allowing man of the match Jack Taylor to calmly finish his fourth goal of the season. The arrival of Vilhete for a tiring Mason-Clark was greeted by one of the biggest cheers of the afternoon the Bees longest serving player producing an excellent save from Walker after he connected perfectly with Wes Fonguck’s corner. With Dover failing to mount anything against a defence in which Dan Sweeney was outstanding Mindy Elito crashed a shot against the Dover bar before Vilhete completed a fairytale comeback beating Walker from close range in the final minute.

HRB Sport kicks festive season off early

Christmas is around the corner which brings an intense schedule and key set of matches for our local teams. HRB Sport will be on air through the festive season, kicking off with an early start for the Bees. There will be reports and score flashes throughout the game at the Hive followed by news of the goals on our flagship Saturday show. Then on Sunday a full round up of the weekend action and a look ahead to the holiday season highlights.
After a trio of successes in the FA Trophy last weekend, the draw for the second round threw up some interesting ties. Barnet enjoy another home fixture against Evostik Premier South side Dorchester. Boreham Wood will travel to National League North Blyth Spartans, while Wingate & Finchley have a shorter trip to National League South Hemel Hempstead. Ties will be played on 12th January.
Barnet have confirmed that Harry Taylor has joined fellow FA Cup successes Woking to regain match fitness after a year long struggle against injury.
Boreham Wood came away from Halifax with a hard-fought point on Tuesday, though it could have been more as Justin Shaibu gave the team a 4th minute lead. The equaliser came just before the break and the 1-1 draw lifts Wood into 11th place.
Potters Bar have signed a familiar face to strengthen their attacking options. Joshua Hutchinson was the team’s leading scorer in 2014-15 and returns after a spell at Wealdstone.
Wingate & Finchley now have worldwide recognition after their goalmouth scramble went viral. An estimated 5 million viewers watched the clip which was also featured on the BBC News and can be seen on the team’s twitter page.
Tyriq Hunte rescued a point for Edgware scoring in the 91st minute against Wembley.
