The cup games keep coming thick and fast for the Bees, the latest being a trip to Bostik League Carshalton Athletic. The Robins are the lowest ranked team left in the competition having started out in the first qualifying round. The comforts of home have proved key to the Surrey sides progress having been drawn at home in every round so far. The cup run has been in contrast to Carshalton’s league form which sees them down in 15th place in the table.
Bees boss Darren Currie has the task of bringing his side back down to earth after Monday’s Cup heroics. With the Brentford replay to come on Tuesday night he may also take the opportunity to rest some players ahead of the trip to Griffin Park. One player who won’t be playing any part is Charlee Adams who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a back injury. The Bees were quick to sign teenager Watford midfielder Anthony Charles on loan for the rest of the campaign and he could make his debut at the War Memorial Ground.
Carshalton have a good record in front of their own fans having lost only one of their last eight home games. They are looking to reach the 4th round of the Trophy for the first time. The teams have met once before in the competition when the Robins won 4-2 at Underhill in 1982.
We’ll have live commentary of the match from Pete Hill & Garry Lakin in HRB Saturday Sport.
