BARNET 3 Barrow 1

The Bees recorded their first win in five games thanks to a solid performance at The Hive. Darren Currie changed his formation to go three at the back and it paid immediate dividends with wing backs Che Alexander and Elliott Johnson combining to open the scoring after only four minutes. Johnson sliding home his second goal of the season from Alexander’s right wing cross. With Medy Elito prominent in midfield Barnet had much the better of the opening period Jack Barham and Wesley Finguck both having chances to extend the advantage before the break. Barrow who had kept four clean sheets in their previous five matches looked more threatening after half time and it took Shaq Coulthirst‘s 15th goal of the season dispatched after a deft knock down by Jack Barham to steady the home nerves on the hour. Dan Jones headed Wes Fonguck’s cross into his own net after 71 minutes to secure victory. Kyle Jameson’s close range strike 10 minutes from time proving no more than consolation for the 102 Barrow fans.

HRB Sport on the March

A new month means we march on to what could be another nerve tingling finale to the football and rugby union seasons for our teams. A disappointing midweek ramps up the necessity for points in the chase for survival and glory.
HRB will be Live at The Hive for the visit of Barrow and in touch with all the goals and stories around the borough.
Losing at home to one of your relegation rivals was not in Darren Currie’s script for Tuesday night, however that was the outcome as Chesterfield leapfrogged Barnet in the table. The visitors took the lead on 15 minutes when Charlie Carter headed in and though the Bees had opportunities to level, the result was sealed by an Alex Kiwomya strike 9 minutes from time.
Barnet remain 2 points and 2 places above the drop zone but have 5 games in hand.
Brentford won their second Bees battle in a month as a young team lost 5-0 to Brentford B in the Middlesex Senior Cup semi-finals.
Potters Bar went out of the Herts Senior Cup at the quarter final stage, Hemel Hempstead winning 3-2. Dernell Wynter and sub Keegan Cole gave the Scholars hope of a late comeback after Hemel had dominated the early stages.
Hendon looked on course for more league points when Matty Harriott put the Greens ahead against Weymouth. Chances to increase the lead were squandered before a 3 goal burst from the title chasers in the second half turned the game. Obi Ogo scored his first goal for the club shortly before the whistle to leave Hendon 2 points and 4 places above the drop zone.
Hadley now lead by 3 points after Tring’s narrow win over London Colney, but Biggleswade FC with 4 games in hand were held by Leverstock Green.
