HRB Sport this weekend…enjoy the ride!

The rollercoaster ride that is HRB Sport continues this weekend and who would dare predict the latest round of match results? A near perfect set of outcomes a week ago was followed by a series of almost identical midweek setbacks.
Barnet set the tone by succumbing 3-0 at Halifax after an encouraging victory over Barrow. Devante Rodney gave the Shayman an interval lead, somewhat fortuitously after Bees keeper Mark Cousins had saved the initial shot. James Ferry doubled the advantage on the hour before former loanee Manny Duku put the game beyond reach 13 minutes from time. To compound the visitors misery, Shaq Coulthirst had his late penalty saved. Despite dropping to 19th Barnet have a 5 point cushion from the bottom 4 with games in hand.
Boreham Wood keeper Ryan Huddart has been called up to the England C squad. Manager Paul Fairclough has named a 16 man squad for the Wales match on March 19th and placed striker Bradley Ash on standby .
Wingate & Finchley suffered a damaging loss at relevation rivals AFC Hornchurch. After an encouraging victory at Kinstonian the Blues couldn’t repeat the feat in Essex. In reality the match was tighter than the result, with only a Charlie Stimson goal separating the teams until the final 5 minutes. 2 goals in quick succession ended hopes of closing the 3 point gap on Whitehawk ahead of the league leaders visit.
Edgware completed a trio of 3-0 defeats by losing to lowly North Greenford United denting their chances of a top half finish.
And Saracens found the absence of their internationals too much to handle losing 18-9 at Bath. A match without tries saw Rhys Priestland kick all 6 host penalties with Alex Lozowski slotting over 3 for the Men in Black. However, his 4 failures from the tee together with an undisciplined display means Sarries have lost 4 in a row on the road and missed the chance to regain top spot.
The undoubled highlight of last week was London Broncos remarkable win over Grand Final winners Wigan Warriors. The team won a pulsating match at Trailfinders 18-16 and then announced that forward Matt Davis has resigned on loan from Warrington Wolves.  With only 5 days between 2 massive games, the team couldn’t create another upset against St Helens who ran out 26-0 winners on Friday night to return to the top of Super League.
