Barnet and local derby highlight Christmas aperitifs on HRB Sport

With Christmas approaching, HRB Sport will have its usual comprehensive coverage of the busy fixture schedule over the festive season. News to follow shortly on the specifics. In the meantime our regular Saturday show today features commentary from Barnet on the road, the derby clash at Maurice Rebak Stadium and news from all the other local games.

Barnet’s reward for beating Weymouth in the Trophy last Saturday is a long trip to West Yorkshire in Round Two. The draw threw up an away trip against either Altrincham or Farsley Celtic, both currently a league below in the National North. Having been held at home, Farsley won the replay 2-1 after extra time and host the Bees on January 11th.

Barnet players from the men’s and women’s teams have been busy this week supporting the work of Barnet Hospital by visiting patients in children’s wards and chatting to their families.

Although Wingate & Finchley weren’t in action on Tuesday, Merstham’s win against Harrow Borough drops them a place in the table to one of the two automatic relegation places and sets up a vital clash against Potters Bar today.

Better news from the Southern South where home defeats for Yate and Blackfield & Langley mean Hendon are only one and two points respectively behind both teams with a game in hand.

HRB Sport on road to Wembley as Bees face Weymouth

HRB Sport is back to its regular Saturday schedule and today features commentary on the FA Trophy at The Hive plus scores and reports from all other local games. Several games have fallen victim to the weather whereas others have survived pitch inspections.

Potters Bar went out of the Velocity Trophy midweek after a 4-2 defeat by Basildon. This after George Quarrington-Carter gave the Scholars a 40th minute lead. But 3 second half goals turned the tide and a Roman Michael-Percil goal only served as consolation.

Goalkeeper Arthur Janata has joined the club on loan from Leyton Orient as cover for R’avan Constable
